FAQs

Will my health insurance pay for counseling?

Here at Hopeology, we accept BCBSIL PPO, Aetna, Cigna, Optum/United Health Care, and Medicare. We unfortunately are not in-network with any HMO or Medicaid plans at this time. It is important for you to confirm your benefits with your insurance company. We can help assist you with this process before your first appointment.

What if my insurance is out-of-network or not accepted at Hopeology?

We want to work with you regardless of your insurance status. Please call us to discuss your needs and our fees further.

Can you prescribe medications?

The psychologists at Hopeology are doctors of psychology, not psychiatry. Psychologists are specially trained to treat mental health disorders via therapeutic interventions targeting behaviors, and psychiatrists are physicians that can prescribe medications. Therefore, Hopeology is not able to prescribe medications at this time.

How often should I come to therapy?

We have found that most people benefit from starting with weekly appointments. You and your therapist can decide to meet less frequently as you progress toward reaching your therapeutic goals. Even after goals have been reached, many clients decide to continue coming for occasional appointments to maintain their process, such as once per month.
